Fresh Blood, HDH challenge

I've got some exciting news, I am a DT Minion at Haunted Design House, how cool it that?? (well actually it's very cold in the Dungeon, cold and dark...and scary). Today the challenges start again and the first theme is "Fresh Blood" I made a shadow box, containing a bottle of fresh blood ofcourse, a lot of pics, hope you like

DecoArt products used:
Americana Acrylics: tomato red, antique teal, traditional burnt umber
Elegant finishes: medieval gold, emperors gold, reinansanse brown
Metallic Lustres : iced esspresso and champaigne ice

I started out with this

 a wooden book box
with bows on the outside LOL and a plastic toy mask (lucky to have a son with a love for scary toys, now too old to play with them , now I get to play with it)  And a lock that came from a tea box.
and turned it into this

Lots of layers of paint and metallic lustres to get the mask to look like this, added some bling in the eyes, just for fun
made the sides of the book look like it really has pages, using gesso and paints
the back of the book, tried to give it an aged look using Weathered wood crackle mediium and different layers of Americana Acrylic paint
the spine of the book is coverd with paper, the leatherlook was allready there, I just aged it using ink and metallic Lustres
the inside cover, stamped and aged using distress inks, that blood could be real though, you never know.......

the inside, the box is painted gold, using Elegaant finish metallic paint in different colors gold.
the skullies and hands are clear stamps, I used archival jet balck ink to stamp them on the painted wood. The bell jar is a Tim holtz die, the bottle was a small vinager bottle. the blood is left over blood from my daughters Halloween party :-) (handy to have kids with supplies). Added some roses (tim holtz die) and a vampire teeth charm

here some more pics

Hope you like my first project, now get over to the Haunted Design House blog for more inspiration by the other talented minions. I can't wait to see your entries in the Fresh Blood challenge

 here's another canvas

All producsts used are Deco Art
First gessoed the canvas, then added a layer of Spiced Pumpkin Americana Acrylic paint. Used Weathered wood crackle medium and the top layer is Americana acrylic paint in lamp black .
The skull is made using a Panduro stencil and Deco Art modeling paste.
Then painted the modeling paste with Americana acrylic Purple Pizazz. And finished with Glamour dust glitter paint colour purple princess.
Added some rhinestones to give it a bit extra bling

and an AJ page

The Image is a Rick St.dennis digi called Countess van Bloot, she is on Etsy an on Zibbet.
Background a gelli print, used Tim Holtz dies as masks for the swirls and the heart.
paint is Deco Art Americana Acrylics (colours Light hauser green, tomato red, true blue, spiced pumpkin)

senti came from the internet (was quite an eyeopener, we girls can't help it, unless we turn into a boy.....LOL)
just in case you can't read it, it says:

"I'm a girl;
I overreact, I underestimate, I overestimate,
I over think everything, I dream big
and when I say
I love you,
I'm not lying"

True and quilty ;-)

O and a little something for you

on the Tuts and Comments blog there is a post about shading, Rick drew a special lesson sheet for that. Go to the blog to see how you can get it, it's FREE

see you for day 29

Vintage Tag

This tag is made using a piece of cardboard, gesso-ed it and then went crazy with paints :-)

Supply list:

Traditional burnt Sienna  DA223
Traditional burnt Umber DA 221
Lamp (ebony) black DA 067
Light buttermilk DA 164

first I painted the tag using Light Buttermilk, let dry and stamped the images on the tag using Archival Jet black ink. Let dry.
Then I coloured the stamps using Caran d'ache coloured pencils and blended using odourless white spirit.
Careful cause the white spirit disolves when blending the pencil, so it's a bit harder to do than colouring on paper.
Let dry, cause the blending wets the paint a bit
Then I added a layer of weathered wood. Let dry again (lol you do need some patience for this)
The top layer is traditional burnt Sienna. Watch it crack, but don't let dry completly.
Carefully whipe of the top layer on the spots you want the stamps to show.
Let dry again.
Then I sanded a bit, and  added a bit lamp black. The final step is to glaze the whole tag using a mixture of Glazing Medium and traditional burnt umber.

I will enter this tagin the following challenges
