SinCity Sugar Skull bloghop

Hi everyone, welcome to my blog, and thank you Sin City Art Stamps for hosting a blog hop on my favorite subject Sugar Skulls. Al inspiration team members were kindly given a sheet of the Sugar Skull stamps designed by the talented Michelle Frae Cummings.

The premise of this blog hop is for you to meet our in house Inspiration team members along with a few guest members, discover more ways to create with these stamps and possibly win a set for yourself!

No matter where you have started, To qualify to win your own Day of the Dead Sugar Skulls stamp set, (we are giving away 3!) we ask that you visit each of the blogs participating, leave a nice comment and then come back to the Sin City Blog and let us know which blog projects you liked the most and why.

Blog Roll below at the end of the post......sooooo here it comes....taaadaaaa...my project for the hop......is a Sugar Skull Shrine (duh!)

The skull was stamped into clay and painted after the clay had dried. I made a video how to stamp into clay for my You Tube channel and it shows you not only the stamping but also the painting of this skull. Here is a link to the video (please subscribe to my channel so you won;t miss any of my videos)

Supply List:
Sugar Skull stamps by Sin City (both the skull but also the flower stamp in the backgound are on that sheet)
Deco Art Products:
For the Skull: Americana acrylics in: Sea Breeze, Carousel Pink, Antique White Moon Yellow, Lamp Black. Triple Thick Gloss Glaze.
For the Shrine: Deco Art Media Gesso and Americana acrylics in Lamp Black, Neutral Grey, Grey Sky and Driftwood. The Gold paint is Dazzling metallic Emperors gold.

For the Shrine I used Tim Holtz dies the big and small Cabinet card die, and chipboard. I will have a step by step how to make the shrine for you on the Sin City Inspiration Blog soon, so follow the blog and you won't miss it :-)

All instructions on ow to make the skull ar in the video mentioned above, the roses are bought paper roses, I cut of the wire they were on and gave them a layer of Triple Thick Gloss to make them look like they are made of porcelain, and when dry I adhered them to the shrine.

I realy love how the background turned out using the flower stamp that is also onn the Sugar Skull sheet

Macabre Monday # 184 Skullduggery

Our new Macabre Monday theme for the next two weeks:

SKULLDUGGERY

The word 'skulduggery' is a noun,
meaning underhanded or unscrupulous behavior; trickery.

Notice how we purposely misspelled it with two "l"s?
We're looking for SKULLS, but if you can manage to work
both the definition, and the skulls in,
then you have a win, win project on your hands!

So, just to be clear, we want to see skulls. Lots, and lots of skulls

sooooo skulls it is, I made a skull shrine

Deco Art products used:
Dazzling Metalics Venetian Gold
American Acrylics, colours: Mocha, Sable Brown, Sand, Lamp black, Traditional Burnt Sienna
Americana Gesso, Weathered Wood Crackle Medium, Dura Clear Matte Varnish, Glazing Medium
Elegant finish Metallics in Renaissance Brown and Emperors Gold Metallic Lustres in Iced Espresso, Copper Kettle, silver spark, Black Shimmer.
Texture Fierro Iron Green
The skull is a Smeared Ink digi
The rubber stamps are from the Stempelwinkel, the skull/cross bone is a clear stamp, brand unknown
the shrine is made using the vintage cabinet card die and card board, and the fence is the die in the pic

I die cutted (is that a word?) the vintage card 6 times, 2 were given the same treatment as the Dragon Book, see how to here (as a matter a fact I die cutted those 2 from my test piece. I tried this aging technique on the cardbord first before using it on the book. So glad I saved it cause it saved me a lot of work for this LOL)
The 4 other vintage cabinet cards were glued together. I glued one of the ages cards on the top (aged side up, doh!). Cut the hole out using a ruler and craft knife, safe the aged piece you cut out.
glue the other aged card on the back, (aged side to the back, so you see both aged sides)

the square aged piece you cut out the first card will be glued in the hole, aged side up, now all sides have a nice aged look and only the sides have to be aged (inside the hole and around the card) but first stamp all the skullies.

To age the sides I used Texture Fierro, apply using a palette knife. Let Dry and add some Elegant Finish Metallics
The flower is also a Tim Holtz Die, same as the ones I used for the Dragon Book, this was a left over from that I explained how to make them here.
The skull is printed twice , cut out and layerd using foam tape to create some dimension, distressed with glossy crackle accents and walnut stain distress ink.

Skull appreciation day and Smudgy Antics challenge

Today is Skull Appreciation Day. We will be celebrating Skull Appreciation Day by featuring handmade projects that spotlight the much-loved cranium in a wild blog hop event. There will also be give aways and tons of freebies during the hop! The hop will start at 9am Pacific time.

Today is also the start of a new challenge at Smudgy Antics, the challenge is Anything Goes, you can find all the info here.

I combined my project for the Smudgy Antics challenge and Skull Appreciation Day and made a skull shrine:

For the shrine I used a little box.The front and the back of the shrine are made of TH Hanging Sign die.
The skull is a Smeared Ink digi that I printed 5 times, fuzzy cut and layered. To finish the skull I added some Glossy Accents that gave the skull a shiny look. The skull was glued to the back of the shrine. Below the skull are some roses and letter beads. Then I added some bling and metal corners to the front of the shrine.
