a bit scary and a cute monster page

Ok this is a bit scary even for me (yes I hear you guys thinking, huh?? what can scare you??, you're on the dark side. Trust me, I do get scared sometimes LOL)

I will get you the pics first

I agree, these aren't very scary pics.......but..........the idea that I will be starting teaching classes at Koffie Kaartje is a little bit scary in a good way LOL.
First class will be all about making these tags, that will be in November, you can sign up at the shop.

What I used to make them:
some flowers and charms
Marianne Design clear stamps
archival jet black ink

Next one is another Art Journaling page, I used a Rick St.Dennis digi called  Goblin Gus my Gelli plate and Deco Art Americana Acrylic paints Calypso blue, Sour Apple and some left overs from a previous print. Quote came from the net.
The markers used are Edding 8400 cd/dcd and blue ray marker for the zentangle frame and the lettering is Edding 780 paint marker. Image is coloured using Caran d'ache luminance 6901 pencels

O and some cool news  for Dutch RSD Rubber fans (and maybe also for our neighbour countries)about the RSD Rubber stamps that are available at I Brake for Stamps, you can now also order them at Koffie Kaartje, they are not in the online shop yet but you can contact the store to order, saves postage.

I will enter the tags in the following challenges

http://simplysteampunkchallenges.blogspot.nl/2013/09/sept-6th-challenge.html  i hope layers of paint will count, there are lot's of them on the tags

I will enter the AJ page into the following challenges

http://artisticinspirationschallenges.blogspot.co.uk/ challenge 59 anything goes or frame it; the AJ page's got a zentangled frame

Alpha dictionary letter G

LOL   I think it's obvious what word I chose for the letter G in the Alpha Dictionary challenge over at the Craft Barn Blog, well actually I had choise of 3 at least.

Ghost, Goblin and Ghoul, these are my favorit G words by far.......

Can't do all three I guess but I wanted to use a quote that must sound familiar to anyone who has ever been to Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris. It has both Goblin and Ghoul in it so thought to just cut both words out of my dictionary.

But fair is fair, have to chose one word so I'll go for Goblin  :-)

The image used is Lady Greystone  a Rick St. Dennis digi stamp, she reminds me of the bride haunting Phantom Manor, looking for her groom (the poor guy didn't show up at the wedding, he kinda died, someone hung him).
The background is a gelli plate print.
Paint used:  Deco Art americana acrylic paint, colours:

the Rick St. Dennis digi is coloured using Caran d'ache luminance 6901 coloured pencils, a paper stump and odourless white spirit

The tekst is handwritten I used Edding 780 paint markers, in white and black, the doodles are also done with these markers

the letter Z.............let's think.....o, I know.......

ZOMBIE!!!!!!!!!!!

Over at the Craft Barn blog the new Alpha dictionary challenge started, and the letter is Z........

Well my beloved followers, I guess you all saw this coming, letter Z can be only one thing in my dictionary.......

I can't work in a dictionary, it's too small for me so I had to cut the word out and glue it to my page, I don't normally cut things out of books, they are kinda sacred .....so I have a very old English-Dutch dictionary that i use for these challenges. Can you believe the word Zombie wasn't in there, what kind of dictionary is that, the most important Z word not in there...........

Luckely my son has a dictionary, he needs that for school, I asked him if Zombie was in there and ............

Yay it was!!!

Well not anymore................I know.....I  am a bad example for my kids, but hey, they think I am NUTS anyway  :-).
But at my defense; I asked if I could cut it out and my son wasn't very much attached to the Zombie word so I could have that one. As a matter a fact I could have the whole book," he didn't need it anyway", he said.   Well I think he does, so I returned it  to him ;-) (minus a word or two that is)

Here  is my page, using a Rick St. Dennis image called Zombie love, the background is a gelliplate print, I used Deco Art Amercana Acrylic paint in the colours: Calypso Blue DA234, Navy Blue DA 035, Hauser Light green DA131, True Red DA 129, and Lemon Yellow DA 011. The heart and the Z are stamps, I wrote the senti using a waterproof marker.

good advice

Now the only thing I need to do is listen to it LOL. I guess art journalling can be very therapeutic and writing these quotes might just be helpful.
Don't worry no horrible things happening  here..........

When I saw the new alpha dictionary challenge at Craft Barn Blog was about the letter O, I decided to choose the word  Opportunity and made this AJ page, which turned out to be about the opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and try new things and the "fear" of not being good enough. I think these quotes say it all; don't listen to your fears cause if you don't try you will never know.  Just believe in yourself.

These quotes made sense so I guess it's working  :-)

The image is a Rick St. Dennis MFA image, it was originally drawn for me to use at the Tooth and Claw challenge in the DTT.  I ended up making another project and did not use this one. I loved the image though and was just waiting for the right opportunity to use it . I thought it would be perfect for this page. You won't find it in Rick's etsy, but there are lots of images you will  like in there.

and here the piece of the dictionary

The background is made using my Gelli plate, the paint colours used are:

Deco Arts Americana acrylic paintsBaby blue DA042, Calypso blue DA 234, Lemon Yellow DA011, Dragon Fruit DA 300, Hauser light green DA131, Sapphire DAO99-3, Sour Apple DA 275-3

I will enter the following challenges

Augusts RSD Freebies, meet Bitsy and Tworki

Freebie time again at Sparkle and Glitter and Airless  Chambers the other Rick St. Dennis blogs

There was a bit of a catch for the edt members this time, the Boss decided that the horns and the bathing suit of the freebies had to be coloured using a colour that started with the first letter of their name.

Lesson  learned here: Never try to out smart the Boss or you'll be in big trouble........

Cause I said this was easy ,my name starts with M so I can use M&M red,  M&M blue etc...and said that  Rick should come up with something more wicked to beat us ,

so I ended up not being allowed to use any colour that starts with any letter of my name: Monique van Dijk or any colour with a double name.

Just to show you I didn't cheat here a colour chart of my Caran d'ache pencils
I own the big box 76 pencils, unlucky for me fancy pencils have fancey names, most of them have double names.
So following DA RULEZ I ended up with these

9 pencils including black and white, I hardly ever use black and white so that left 7 pencils, see pic above..........

This was challenging, 3 sepia colour and a very light yellow and some orange/red/rust

For Bitsy I needed skin colour and a colour for the eyes

there was no rule about mixing colours and it turns out that worked great, the primrose and the cornelian togehter looked kind a skin colour and the russet for the eyes

see here the result

not that bad hey??
I decided to try the sepia colours too

Same rules were to be used for Tworki, the cutest monster ever

I  think I passed the test LOL
now go and snag the freebies on SNG and AC

i will enter bitsy in the folowing challenges

thrones

This A.J. page is for the Alpha Dictionary challenge at Craft Barn blog this time it's the letter T.

Because Rick St. Dennis MFA had just send me an awesome image that was based on the Game of Thrones, you can find her here, I decided my word would be "Thrones" that way I could use this awesome new image to join this challenge.

I cut out the defenition of the word out of an old dictionary and put it on my page.

The word Thrones is also on there and there are several T's in the senti, so I guess this will do to enter, working in a real dictionary is to small for me sorry....

here she is:

Chunky ATC

This is my first ever chunky ATC, not made out of wood but just cardstock, template was provided bij Haunted design House challenge 172 in which this is going to be entered.

The background card symbols is a rubber stamp, don't know which brand, the Alice stamps are all Rick St Dennis, most of them available in rubber now at I Brake for Stamps.

The card stock is coloured using distress in different shades of blue. All stamps are coloured using my caran d'ache colouring pencils. The key hole is a clear stamp (marianne design i think) covered with embossing  powder.

the chunky atc's front can be opened to a little shadowbox.

I will also enter this in Smudgy Antics challenge "use metal"   the metal is in the hinges, the corners, the key and clock and the little doorknob, which is made out of button.
