some catching up...

Hi all,

I just came back from an awesome vacation in USA, I have been traveling there for 3.5 weeks and seen a lot of beautiful things.  If you want to see what I did on my travels you can go to my Travel you Tube Channel here.

I only had my phone with me so the videos are all shot and edited using my phone, that has not as many options as my computer so it was hard to edit and add music etc. to the videos, I hope you like them anyway, I tried to make them as good as possible.

While I was away I did post videos, I had schedualed them before I left and that went well, glad it did because it turns out I can not put videos live from my phone, no idea why that did not work, maybe I need to download another app, maybe it is just the phone and you tube don't like eachother.

I do know my phone does not like blogger, I can do basic things on my phone, but adding a picture to a post seems to much to ask, that's why ther was nothing happening here.

But am back now and promise to be a better blogger.

In this post I will add the things I have allready shown on my you tube craft channel while I was away, I will add links to the videos so you can see how it it made, and add a list of the product used to each project.

so here we go:

I did make some projects without video's see below

This art journal page was easy because the back ground ws made using left over paint from other prodcts and cleaning of stencils used in other projects, fun to see what je get if you just add the random cleaning things togehter, there is crarckle, stencila and paint it different colors, all Deco Art products btw.
TheSailor is a stamp by Chocolate Baroque / Speshink., I stamped it colred it using pencils ( Derwent Inktense) cut it out and glued it to the background. the tekst stamp is by Tim Holtz.

Another tag using the Tim Holtz paperdolls, the wings are from a decou page sheet, and the gears are a Tim Holtz Thinlets die. The bricks are made using a stencil and modeling paste, in the background there is some stenciling too. All paints and modeling paste used are Deco Art Products, see picture too see what I  used.

This is a page in my handmade envellope journal, see video here (the video explains all backgrounds too), the devil is a digital stamp by Rick St.dennis, it was colored using alcohol markeres (Twinmarkers) cut out and glued to the background using Deco Art  Matte  Medium. The word "fear"is a stamp by Stampendous/ Andy Skinner.

sorry for the long post, but I think I have everything I made before my vacation in here now :-)

hope you enjoyed and subscribe to my craft channel

Valentines day frames

Almost february so time to think about Valentines day gifts to make :-)

I made a heart frame using cardboard in a mosaic kind of way and people started to bomb me with questions on how  I made it :-)  (so cool when that happens)

The best way to show is in a Video so I decided to create a simular frame with a different focal point and film the process and explain all steps in a video. Because a lot of the questions came from people in the Nethelands I decided to speak both Dutch and English in the video to talk you through all steps. Apparantly people don't mind because the comments are all very psotive :-)

Thanks everyone for looking at the video and subscribing to my channel, I have reached over 600 subscribers yesterday and that made me very happy :-)

So here som pictures, a list of supplies and a link to the video

Supply list:
Deco Art products : Triple thick Gloss Glaze Americana Acrylics in: lamp black, desert turquoise, traditional burnt sienna. and for the heart I used Scarlet and for the moon I used Moon Yellow. Deco Art Media line products: Matte medium, Matte varnish, Crackle Glaze. Metallic Lustres in: Burnished Brass, Black Shimmer Stencil for the moon frame is by Dutch Doobadoo, the one used on the heart frame is by Deco Art, a Andy Skinner stencil Stamps: the heart, the ticket and the love definition stamp are all from the Tim Holtz set Love Struck CMS 082 by Stampers Anonymous. The flourish and moon stamp are from The Blank Page Muse The crackle stamp came from a stampendous set by Andy Skinner All paper and embellishments and the glue came from a store called Action, which is a kind of dollar store type of store. next you need cardboard (old box) the back of a photoframe. A pencil and eraser. Ruler, knife Scissors, some paint brushes and a pallete knife. Heat gun is handy and baby wipes too For stamping I used my home made stamping tool (see my video on how to make that) and Archival ink by Ranger in Jet Black

Some notes to think of:

The cardboard from the box might contain acids so if you want to make sure your paper will not be damaged by this you will want to gesso it first and next add a layer of black paint before adding the paper.
I use cardboard a lot in my work and never had any issues with it but if you want to be on the safe side it is just something you will want to do.

The glue I use is only available at Action, which is a dollar store kind of shop, they are not in all countries so the best comparishment for the glue I used is the Collal All purpose glue

All instuctions are in the video here:

here some more closer looks

thanks for visiting and your nice comments

As youguys maybe know I like Dodo's ,  not the smartest birds and they are not that pretty, but I like them anyway.

As a matter a fact they are in my bird top 5.
1) Raven (clever and pretty)
2) Pelican (looks like a flying dinosaur so that's cool)
3) Dodo (Extinct but still cool)
4) Road Runner (funny and I love cartoons too lol)
5) Humming birds (they are soooo small)

I made this take using a dodo stamp (it's the dodo from Alice)

Lucky Cat Shrine for ITAC'17 challenge

Supply list:

Deco Art Americana acrylics in Lamp Black and True Red
Deco Art Dazzling Metallics in Emperors Gold
Deco Art Media Gesso (white and black), Modeling paste and Gloss Varnish

Cardboard (pieces of a box)
Tassels
Stamps with Chinese Characters, coins and decorations.
A Lucky Cat (mine was a key chain hanger)
Stamp Ink (waterproof, I use Archival Jet black)
Tim Holz dies ( Baroque and Artfull Dwellings)
Stencil
white cardstock

I am sorry I did not take step by step pictures but will explain how I made it. It is not that hard.
Start by cutting the shapes (2 of the baroque  and 4 or 5 of the Artfull dwellings)

The Baroque die will be the front and the back of the shrine and you need to cut off some of the side edges to get the shape I have used, also cut a part out of the bottom to creat some "feet". The front needs a hole that is big enough to fit the Lucky Cat in.

The Artfull dwelling shapes that will hold the cat will neet a hole too, use a craft knife to cut it out (use a pencil to draw the shape first)

In my Shrine 3 artfull dwellings dies with hole were enough to create enough depth to hold the kitty.

Gesso all pieces ( I used whot gesso for the parts that were going to be red and black for the rest, gesoo both sides)

Paint all parts and use modeling paste and a stencil to create the mosaic tile look on the gold frame around the cat, paint that carefully in black and gold when modeling paste is dry (use the stencils as a mask to avoid gold paint to go on the blac parts)

Stamp the coins on gold painted cardstock and cut them out, attache the tassels.

Stamp all images on the front of the shrine and paint over the characters using gold metallic paint.

Use some gold paint on the edges.

stamp some Chinese characters to make tiles and stamp characters on the cardboard piece that will be the back ground for the cat.

Use gloss Varnish over all painted parts

Assemble all pieces and add the coins with the tassels using foam tape and put the cat in place.

This was made for ITAC "17 challenge 2 "Asia"   art as meditation.
