Halloween decoration for Sin City stamps

I made this shadow box, today and made a video about the process,  see link at the end of this post.

It's so hard to take a good picture because of the reflections in the glass, but I hope you get the idea.

The wings are made using air dry clay and a silicone mold, see how to video here

SinCity Sugar Skull bloghop

Hi everyone,  welcome to my blog, and thank you Sin City Art Stamps for hosting a blog hop on my favorite subject Sugar Skulls. Al inspiration team members were kindly given a sheet of the Sugar Skull stamps designed by the talented Michelle Frae Cummings.


The premise of this blog hop is for you to meet our in house Inspiration team members along with a few guest members, discover more ways to create with these stamps and possibly win a set for yourself!

No matter where you have started, To qualify to win your own Day of the Dead Sugar Skulls stamp set, (we are giving away 3!) we ask that you visit each of the blogs participating, leave a nice comment and then come back to the Sin City Blog and let us know which blog projects you liked the most and why.

The skull was stamped into clay and painted after the clay had dried. I made a video how to stamp into clay for my You Tube channel and it shows you not only the stamping but also the painting of this skull. Here is a link to the video (please subscribe to my channel so you won;t miss any of my videos)

Supply List:
Sugar Skull stamps by Sin City (both the skull but also the flower stamp in the backgound are on that sheet)
Deco Art Products:
For the Skull: Americana acrylics in: Sea Breeze, Carousel Pink, Antique White  Moon Yellow, Lamp Black. Triple Thick Gloss Glaze.
For the Shrine: Deco Art Media Gesso and Americana acrylics in Lamp Black,  Neutral Grey, Grey Sky and Driftwood. The Gold paint is Dazzling metallic Emperors gold.

For the Shrine I used Tim Holtz dies the big and small Cabinet card die, and chipboard.  I will have a step by step how to make the shrine for you on the Sin City Inspiration Blog soon, so follow the blog and you won't miss it :-)

All instructions on ow to make the skull ar in the video mentioned above, the roses are bought paper roses, I cut of the wire they were on and gave them a layer of Triple Thick Gloss to make them look like they are made of porcelain, and when dry I adhered them to the shrine.

Some scary tags

Hi all

I was playing with my new SinCity Halloween stamps and thought o make some tags

Deco Art Products used:
Americana Acrylic in Lamp Black
Americana Neons in Scorching Yellow and Torrid Orange
Deco Art Media Gesso

Sin City Stamp sheets used:
Halloween Bingo set
Skeletons Halloween set 


First Gesso the tag and paint it using the neon yellow paint, let dry. Take a bit of neon organge paint and use the dry brush technique to add a little orange over the yellow.

Use archival in in aqua to stamp the bingo card and use Archival jet black to stamp the skellie on the broom and the senti.

Using a paintbbrush age the edges by painting it black

Add a ribbon and skul charm

Next tag is made using distress paint to stamp the ornate metal work stamp using orange distress ink, next stap the rest of the images in black. Add a ribbon and Skull charm

31 days of Halloween ; day 13

This page in my journal turned out pretty cool I think :-)

 Products used:  Deco Art Americana Stencils : Segmented Swirls, Radical Rays and the Snakes web by andy Skinner. Deco Art Americana Acrylics in: Neon Light green energy and Radiant Yellow, Snow White, Lamp Black, Teal Mint. Deco Art Glass paint marker in white. Deco Art americana Multisurface neon pink and Decoupage napkin. The skull is a Rick St.dennis digi he comes in a set with cool skull images you can find it here

 first the page was painted pink and next the stencils and paints were used to get this effect, The skull is coloured using alcohol markers an cut out and glued to the page using Decou page napkin.  The quote is written using a white glass paint marker by Deco Art

And a tag for the junk journal, background is bisters and the images a a mix of rubber and clear stamps

Day 11, time flies eh?  only 20 to go........

A Day of the dead Skull shrine today

Deco art Products used:

Americana Acrylics in Lamp Black, Teal Mint, Titanium Whire, Saffron Yellow, True Red.

Deco Art media Gesso white, Triple thick Gloss Glaze. Glamour Dust in Lemon Drop, Craft Twinkle Christmas red. America Stencil Aztec

the outside of the box is painted using red, teal mint and yellow, I used the Aztec stencil to decorate the box amd added some bling to the lit. 

 the inside of the box where the skull is is painted with glamour dust glitter paint

The skull is homemade (used a mold ans plaster of Paris) , it's handpainted and covered in a layer of triple thick gloss glaze. The eyes and the flower are rhinestones

and another page in the junk journal

a piece op scrap paper and some Deco Art Media Crackle Glaze with some Deco Art Antiquing cream to bring out the cracks.  The Monster image is a digi by Rick St.dennis, coloured it and cut it out. Used Matte medium to glue it on the page. the quote is from the book, stamped on cardstock and glued to the page

bonus project :-)

Deco Art products used: Deco Art Media Misters in Primary Yellow and Orange. Americana acrylics in Saffron Yellow and Lamp black. Gesso. Andy Skinner stencil Old Film and Americana Stencil Fenced In. Triple Thick Gloss Glaze. Rubber stamp by Rick St.dennis

First gesso the canvas and use the misters to give it some colour, Use Saffron Yellow on the stencil and next use Arcival ink in jet black to stamp the skull stamp on the canvas. It did not give a very gooed print because of the canvasfrme on the bakc made it hard to stamp. But I liked the effect.
Next use the stencils with the lamp black acrylic paint. and add 2 layers of Triple thick gloss glaze.

31 days of Halloween ; day 2

Welcome to day 2 of the 31 days of Halloween, page 2 of the junkjournal :-)

It's made out of black cardstock, embossed using a Tim Holtz embossing folder and treated with Deco Art Metallic Lustres in Copper Kettle, Black Shimmer Gold Rush.   just love the effect metallic lustres have on paper.

Deco Art Products used : Americana acrylics inAntique linnen Traditional burnt umber, Antique Mauve, Hauser Medium Green. Deco Art Media Matte Medium, Crackle Glaze, Matte Varnish, Dazzling Metallics Renaissance Brown, Antiquing Cream in Raw Umber, Deco Art Media Gesso. Deco Art Americana Stencil Distressed Harlequin. Digi used is one of the skulls form the skull sheet by Rick St.dennis, The skull rubber stamp in the background is from the Morte Set , also designed by Rick

The page came from my  Dutch to English dictionary I used in school, the paper was allready yellowed but I thought it needed some more aging. To make sure the paper would not bleed when using stamps, I added a few layers of Matte varnish. Stamped the corners using a spiderweb clear stamp

Added the Hauser Medium Green and Antique Mauve acrylic in the middle of the page , Coloured the skull digi and cut it out and used Matte Medium to glue it on the page

Added some more matte Varnish to protect the stamping and colouring and when dry I added the Crackle glaze.

 When Crackle glaze is dry rubb antiquing cream in the crackles and over the page, whipe back again when dry till you like the result and protect with matte varnish.

Gesso the canvas and the piece of carboard (I gesso both sides of the cardboard so it won't warp)

Paint the canvas Antique Linnen and let dry, make a wash of Traditional burnt umber and  water and age the canvas using a kitchen towel.

Paint the cardboard in Hauser Medium Green and Antique Mauve using a sponge. When paint is dry use the skulls from the morte stamp set to create the back ground. Next use the Industrial stamps by Stampendous to age the background and give it the same wash as the dictionary page.
Use Matte Varnish to protect it

Use the distressed Harlquin stencil on the canvas using the Deco Art Dazzling Metallic in Renaissance Brown, and  add some on the edges of the page and the charm.

Distress the edges of the carboard using a small paint brush and traditional burnt umber paint .

 age the lace and make a bow. add the charm to the bow .

Glue all parts togehter, I usse matte medium to glue the page to the card board.
