A Day of the dead Skull shrine today

Deco art Products used:

Americana Acrylics in Lamp Black, Teal Mint, Titanium Whire, Saffron Yellow, True Red.

Deco Art media Gesso white, Triple thick Gloss Glaze. Glamour Dust in Lemon Drop, Craft Twinkle Christmas red. America Stencil Aztec

the outside of the box is painted using red, teal mint and yellow, I used the Aztec stencil to decorate the box amd added some bling to the lit. 

 the inside of the box where the skull is is painted with glamour dust glitter paint

The skull is homemade (used a mold ans plaster of Paris) , it's handpainted and covered in a layer of triple thick gloss glaze. The eyes and the flower are rhinestones

a piece op scrap paper and some Deco Art Media Crackle Glaze with some Deco Art Antiquing cream to bring out the cracks.  The Monster image is a digi by Rick St.dennis, coloured it and cut it out. Used Matte medium to glue it on the page. the quote is from the book, stamped on cardstock and glued to the page

Time waits for no man

Hi all,  back again from my vacation in USA and I had a great time, meeting friends and seeing so many beautiful things. I did miss my craftroom a bit tho,  life has been a bit busy last week an a half since I've been back, plus a nice jet lag to deal with the first few days. I did want to enter Andy Skinners Time challenge so started yesterday evening on a last minute project. It was kind of a struggle cuz things never work the way you imagined them, but made it on time :-)


Ok here the products used, all Deco Art ofcourse, I love there paints and mediums :-)

Americana Matte Varnish, Americana Acrylic paint in Lamp Black and True Red. Americana Decou-page matte, Deco Art Media Carckle paste, Deco Art Media Texture Sand and Gesso, Deco Art Media fluid acrylics in Quinacridone Gold (love the paint, hate the name, breaks my tongue lol), Cobalt Teal Hue, Carbon Blac, Burnt Umber.  Deco Art Media antiguing cream in carbon black.  Americana Weathered Wood.

I found the hourglass last Friday in a shop called Hema  (Dutch shop that sometimes has real cool stuff) it was on sale for 1 euro :-)   but ofcourse brand new and shiny. Fixed that..., using a mix of Decoupage and burnt umber acrrylic fluid and a bit water, used soe quin gold for accents, I think it turned out great, was an experiment LOL, any way it started out like this

and now I altered it into this ;-)

The skulls are palstic beads and I put them on the sticks (the ones you use for plants in the garden if they need support no idea what they are called) and gessoed them and rusted them.

The circle parts they are attached too are made of a cardboard box, just cut out a circle shape and some cardstock circles to do the painting and stamping on the cover the cardboard

They are duble sided ofcourse because both sides are visable and because you have to turn the hourglass, the bottom part needs to be the same as the top :-)

I used weathered wood and crarckle paste to get the aged effect . the All Seeing Eye (my fave stamp of the Curiosity set) was stamped using Archival jet black ink , the other side is a clear stamp of a clock, no idea what brand it is.

The glueing everything togehter was a bit hard but it worked :-)  I like the result anyway.

Halloween Turtle

I made a page in my journal, using the Rick St.dennis Halloween turtle (btw there is a turtle in Rick's shop for all occasions). I made the background by sponging Deco Art acrylic paint in neon colours.

Deco Art paints used : Americana Neons in Scorching Yellow and Electric Blue. Multisurface acrylic in Pink, and Americana acrylic in Orange Flame. For the trees and tombstones I made a maske fro Sizzix Alterations Dies (Graveyard and Branche tree) and spinges them with Deco Art Traditions in Carbon Black

The paints are sponged over eachother while they were still wet so they mixed into, what I think are, Halloween colours, I tried to create a landscape that was spooky and at the same time was not to dark.

The Tim Holtz dies were used to make stencils (used use cardstock it wil work fine).

The Turtle was coloured using Prismacolor pencil and cut out to glue on the page, the branches at the bottom of the page is an Inkadinkado stamp.

The senti I found on the net, no idea who thought of this one , there was no name in, but I thought it was so funny, I just had to use it. 

It must be the rat that said this to the turtle, but I am sure the turtle helped cover up the body, you can see that in his face.

halloween tray

 I made a tray using Halloween Cheer a digi by Rick St.dennis

This is a wooden tray,  it was white and I wanted to make give it halloween colours. First added a layer of  Americana Acrylic Gesso and than I painted it using Deco Art Americana acrylics in the colours Wisteria, Colonial green and spiced pumpkin.
When paint was dry I glued the image on using Decou Page

today I have a BAT house for you

I used Deco Art Americana Acrylic paints in Bright Orange and Lamp Black, first I added a layer Gesso, let dry and then painted the orange.

Used the Deco Art Spooky stencil to decorate and for the roof I used the Safari stencil.

Then I added some black with an almost dry brush to give it a bit of a spooky look

Wicked

Hi all, I am back again from France, had a great time but did miss blogging so today I thought to try out some of my new goodies.

The Rick St. Dennis Halloween rubber stamps from I Brake for Stamps, some DecoArt Americana Acrylic and, Glamour dust glitter paint  also Decoart. Also decided to use Americana crackle medium Weathered Wood.

first a pic and then I will tell you what I did.

I took a piece of cardboard and gesso-ed it. Then painted a base coat of Spiced Pumpkin (Da310) I wanted to use the Glamour Dust glitter neon orange (DGD24) but the gesso came through so that's why I added the Spiced Pumpkin first and then the glamour dust glitter neon orange, that turned out really cool, very neon and very glittery :-).

Then a layer of Weathered Wood crackle medium, let dry and added the top layer Purple Pizzazz (DA302), dried it using my heat gun and watched the crackle go. Then I added another layer of Weathered Wood on a part of the purple, let dry and made the top coat Hauser Light green(DA 131) and let it crack again.

I thought it looked nice but I wanted some bigger pieces of the neon orange  to show through and sanded some pieces until the neon orange was visible. The cool thing is it's very glittery but that's  always hard to see in the pic, hope you can see though.

 

Stamped  the Witchy and coloured her, cut her out and glued her to the cardboard.

 

Then painted the swirls (Tim Holz die) using Glamour Dust Glitter Purple Princess (DGD 22) let dry and glued on the card.

 

 

 

The broom is made using a twig from our garden and some rope and a piece of wire. (unraffel the rope, make it wet and straighten it and let dry. Once dried it stays straight.

Use the wire to attache the rope to the twig, super easy)

To finish I added a small bull clip, a ribbon, a flower and some pins, The quote is from the Wicked song Defying Gravity .
