Christmas Cat

For the new challenge at Sparkle and Glitter blog by Rick St.dennis, I made a simple Christmas card using the Christmas cat from the Lil bits of Christmas sheet

The cat was colored using pencils and cut out. Then glued on a piece of green cardstock that has been die cutted.  The embossed parts have a little Deco Art Metallic lustre on them and I also added some pearls.

The card base is red cardstock, the die cut is matted using Christmas designer paper.

thanks for visiting hope to see you in the challenge here

Christmas Ornaments/tags

I had fun altering some wooden tags, and changed them into Christmas decorations.

Americana Decou page in Crystal Glitter and Matte
Americana Acrylic paint in Traditional Burnt Umber

First I selected some chrismas scrapbook paper and cut it to size by tracing the form of the tag on the back of the paper.

Cut the shapes out and use Decou Page Matte to glue it on the tags

For the back I tore some contrasting paper from the same line and glued that on the tag also using Decou Page Matte.

On the back of the tags is a sentiment stamped that says : "Joy and Peace" and I used the crackle stamp by Stampers Anonymous  on both sides of the tag

Next I used Decou Page matte to glue the vintage angels images on the tags.

I aged the edges using a paint brush and tradidional burnt umber paint.

The final touch is a few layers of Decou page Crystal Glitter to give it some extra bling and the decoration pearls.

 It's a set of 3
I really like how they turned out :-)

christmas canvasses

Hi all, I have been painting small canvasses in Christmas style, I think they turned out cute.

DECO ART products used: Americana Gesso, Matte Varnish and Americana acrylics in the colours:
Snow white, True Red, Melon, Coral shell, Lamp black, Winter blue, Festive green, Moon yellow,
Glamourdust glitterpaint in Ice crystal.

The size of each canvas is 2.5 inch x 2.5 inch, the 3 canvasses are made into a wallhanger by attaching a ribbon with a loop on the back of the canvasses.

You can buy this wall hanger in my Zibbet shop here
To start I gessoed all canvasses, for Santa's head I started by dividing the canvas in 3 parts by painting the red and skin color (I used Corall Shell). Next I used Snow white to paint the furr on the hat and the beard. I shaded the beard a bit using winter blue and dabbed that on (use very little paint , brush needs to be almost dry)
Added a little black on the edge of the furr as shade and painted the eyes and the mouth.
The nose and the cheeks are a mix of Melon and a wee bit red.
When paint was dry I added the Glamour dust glitter paint on beard and fur to give some Christmassy sparkle. Finished the canvas with Matte Varish for protection.

TIP:  if you (like me are not the best painter in the world) would like to be able to rease parts of the painting that did not come out that well, here is a little trick. Just before I need to add the details I firtly adde a layer of matte varnish. Let it dry and it will protect the layers of paint underneath. So before painting on the face I added varnish and mistakes can be erased away using a baby wipe. I did the same on the other canvasses before painting the belt and before adding the highlights to the boots.

Santa's coat,  I started with the true red and painted the whole canvas red, next I painted the fur using Snow white and made it look more furry using Wnter Blue (carefully dabb with almost dry brush)
next I added a bit black on both sides of the fur to shade a bit and painted the belt. The buckle is Moon yellow, and the highlights in the belt are Winter Blue. Added the Glamour dust glitter paint on the furr again and finished with Matte varnish

The boots :  this one was a bit more difficult because the shape of the boots. First I took a drawing pencil and sketched the boots, furr and pants roughly try to do it lightly so it won't show throught the paint. Next start painting all colours to the sketch you made, Pants red,  boots lamp black (I painted around the edges so the boots go around the corner,  I thought that would be a fun idea), make the back ground Festive Green) Let the paint dry. Next paint the furr on the boots, Let dry and add matte varnish as protection layer for possible mistake s(lol)  and let dry .  Next you need to start adding shades and highlights to give everything a bit of shape,

I used black to add the shade of the furr to the trousers, this gives a bit depth. Next the legs need to be separated because in this stage they are just a red triangle like shape. So use a little black paint to split the triangle in the middle and fade it out a bit (from the middle to the outsides. On the outsides of the legs also use a bit blackand let it fade into the middle. This gives the legs a bit shape.
Where the two furr parts come togheter there needs to be some shade to just as on the outside curves, and the furr needs to look fluffy so dabbing is the trick, I used Winter Blue for shading the furr.
Next the boots, use highlight on the black to create a boot shape, Just look at the picture to see what I mean, I used Winter Blue for the highlights on the boot

Finally finish the canvas with another layer of Matte Varnish

Creepmas day 12 and Dragons Dream Tag it On Chtistmas

The new Challenge at  Dragons Dreams Tag it on this fortnight  is Christmas,   so that's
easy this time a year LOL, now don't confuse this with Creepmas allthough it might be something different for you to try, anyway here is my Christmas tag:

the tag was stamped using white stazon, then added red and green distress ink on the tag, the Stazon will resist the distress ink, and you will see the whit pop up.
Then I stamped the Santa stamp again on gold cardstock and cut the Santa and the senti out. Before attaching these to the tag with foam tape, I put gold glimmermer mist over the tag.
Can't wait to see your entries in the challenge, but remember it has to be a tag and it has to have at least 1 real stamp on it.

Creepmas day 3 and 5

Today all 3 Creepmas hops are on: You can find all the blog rolls in the side bar.

All the info about prizes and rules you can find here:

the Rick St. Dennis MFA 13 days of Creepmas starts on Airless chambers blog, you find all info there.

The Smeared Ink 12 days of christmas starts at Tori's blog all the info is there

A bit confusing but if you do 1 hop at a time, you'll be fine.

Thanks all for all you lovely comments. I'm having so much fun in the hops, and love  making projects for them. I did made some projects in advance, but for today I made them last minute.

Gonna start with this pic,  a fun little Rick St. Dennis digi I had all ready coloured.
You will see how I got him into creepmas later.

For Smeared Ink 12 days I made a tag using watchfull eye.

The backgound of the tag is stamped and coloured with distress ink, it has glimmer mist on it and glitter glue along the edges, the watchfull eye is coloured using pencil and it's got crackle on it and some distress ink. And every skull needs some bling, so added  glittery christmas deco.

The next hop is the Rick St. Dennis MFA 13 days of Creepmas, now if you thought the skull was scary, wait till you see this..........don't say I didn't warn you this is real scary .........

If you are still brave enough to go have a look, it's at your own risk.....

I don't know to which Creepmas party these ladies (are they ladies??) are going, but I'll make sure I don't run into them. Even colouring this digi was scary LOL.
You can find them here.

The background is coloured with chalk, the feathers are stamped using versamark and sponged some chalk over them. Glimmermisted and then added the digi and some gems.

I will enter the swan ladies in the following challenge
http://www.craftysentiments.blogspot.nl/2012/12/snowmen-or-ladies.html
Some people( my mom is one of them) have been asking me "why the scary stuff, you can make such pretty cards?"  I don't know, it's fun  and that's reason enough for me LOL. So here is cutesey North Pole bear Creepmas style...............

Haha, couldn't do it, the bear is to sweet to creep up, and needed a christmas card to send to my parents anyway LOL. The brown snow flake paterened paper has glitter on it, it just doesn't show to well on the pic. It's just a simple quick card, but I like how it turned out.

Happy hopping, see you tomorrow for day 6
