For both canvases I used a laser copy of a Freddie Mercury image found on the internet . I followed the instructions on the jar. It's not hard to do, just be careful because you might remove some parts of the image while rubbing away the paper.
The background was made using stencils over a yellow and orange background (I added the paint using a sponge and mixed it on the canvas.
Next it is just layering using stencils and paint just like I did in the video on making an at journal here
I worked the same way on this canvas first added red, purple and aqua sky to the background and next used the Tie Dye stencil with green and yellow acrylic.
Next I made marks like in the video mentionned above.
Thanks for visiting

31 days of Halloween ; day 2
Welcome to day 2 of the 31 days of Halloween, page 2 of the junkjournal :-)
project 2
The page came from my Dutch to English dictionary I used in school, the paper was allready yellowed but I thought it needed some more aging. To make sure the paper would not bleed when using stamps, I added a few layers of Matte varnish. Stamped the corners using a spiderweb clear stamp
Added the Hauser Medium Green and Antique Mauve acrylic in the middle of the page , Coloured the skull digi and cut it out and used Matte Medium to glue it on the page
Added some more matte Varnish to protect the stamping and colouring and when dry I added the Crackle glaze.
When Crackle glaze is dry rubb antiquing cream in the crackles and over the page, whipe back again when dry till you like the result and protect with matte varnish.Gesso the canvas and the piece of carboard (I gesso both sides of the cardboard so it won't warp)
Paint the canvas Antique Linnen and let dry, make a wash of Traditional burnt umber and water and age the canvas using a kitchen towel.
Paint the cardboard in Hauser Medium Green and Antique Mauve using a sponge. When paint is dry use the skulls from the morte stamp set to create the back ground. Next use the Industrial stamps by Stampendous to age the background and give it the same wash as the dictionary page.
Use Matte Varnish to protect it
Use the distressed Harlquin stencil on the canvas using the Deco Art Dazzling Metallic in Renaissance Brown, and add some on the edges of the page and the charm.
Distress the edges of the carboard using a small paint brush and traditional burnt umber paint .
Glue all parts togehter, I usse matte medium to glue the page to the card board.

canvas with modeling paste
I have made this canvas to enter the Andy Skinner challenge bold and bright,
Deco Art products used: Media Misters in: Primary Yellow, Yellow Green, Purple, Primary Cyan, Orange, Primary Magenta, and a Shimmer mister in Turquoise. Metallic Lustres in: Cosmic Blue, Radiant Red, Majestic Purple, Brilliant Turquoise, Gold Rush.
Media Modeling paste, Dazzling Metallics in Amethyst and stencils by Andy Skinner: Incognito, Burning rubber, and the Americana stencil: Dangles.
I used a pre gesso ed canvas and added the modeling paste without adding an extra layer of gesso, I guess that is what makes the structure of the canvas show a lot more than usual LOL.
I made a mask to create the wavey lines and cover parts of the canvas while applying the modeling paste through the different stencils. You need to let it dry befor you can move on to the next part of th canvas, so tis took a bit of time.
When all stencilling was done and the modeling paste had dried I started using the misters, again using the masks to create the dfferent parts. So that means letting the mister paint on the canvas dry before moving to next part.
After all colour was on and dry I used contrasting metallic lustre colours to get out the texture better.
Next I used the dazzling metalic paint to make a line between the different sections on the canvas, to give it some more depth.
here some details

Andy Skinner Challenge
For the Andy Skinner challenge "Bold and Bright" I made this canvas board.
Deco Art products used: Americana Acrylics in Festive Green, Red Alert, Lamp Black, Snow White, Carousel Pink, Saffron Yellow. Modelling paste, Gesso, Americana multi surface acrylic in Lemon Zest, Glamour Dust Glitter paint in Turquoise Sparkle, Deco Art Media fluid acrylics in Ultramarine Blue. Andy Skinner Stencils: Hippy Chic, Serendepidy, Industrial elements, code breaker, Americana Mixed Media stencil: Dandelion and the Andy Skinner Indsrtrial rubber stamp set by Stampendous.
I started by Gessoing BOTH sides of the canvas board (they will bend if you only paint one side it's very annoying) next I used paintbrushes , sponges, and my fingers (yikes) to get all the colors on the canvas board, try not to create mud by drying the colors you don't want to mix first before changing to another color (the yellow and green will be ok to mix and the yellow and red too, but green an red is mud so be a bit careful when you slap the paint on, lol, I know it looks like the colors are put on their without thinking.....well,,,,,truth is I did think and this is attempt 2 number 1 is in the bin. LOL).
When base layer of paint is dry and looks the way you want it is time to do the stenciling, first all the Andy Skinner stencils, and I used different colors to stencil them, depending on the background colour they were used on. Next I used some round shapes and Americana Snow White and Lamp black to stamp the circles. Also used some mesh as mask. Stamped the crackle stamp from the Industrial stamp set randomly using Archival Jet black. When all the stamping and stencling was done, I stenciled the word SOAR using lamp black Americana acrylic paint. (use a paint brush that is suited for stencilling, Deco Art has those).
Let Dry and while the paint is drying mix modeling paste with some Media Fluid acrylic (I used Ultramarine Blue) and use that with the Dandelion stencil, I used a pallete knife to apply. Let dry and use turquoise glitter paint to go over the dandelions to give them some sparkle.
I guess this is as bold and bright as I can get ( hubby asked me if was OK, when he saw I made this, told him it was Andy's fault, I don't think he understood lol). No worries guys I will get back to dark eventually :-)

hearts
I have been working on some small canvas mixed media projects to put in my Zibbet here , they are fun littleprojects, canvas size is 4 x 4 inch
HOW TO: first gesso the canvasses. Next takce 2 pieces of tissue paper big enough to cover the canvas (also on the sides) and use stamps to create a background
For the Follow your heart canvas the tissue paper was glued on the canvas using matte medium. just cover the canvas in the matte medium and put the tissue paper on, than use a paint brush with matte medium to go over the tissue paper to seal it, Start in the middle and work to the edges to get rid of airbubles, When the tissue paprer creases that is not a problem, texture is good :-)
Let dry and paint over the tissue paper using media fluid acrylics in Cobalt Teal Hue and Yellow green light. Let dry. Die cut the heart ( Use cardboard from an old box, save the heart for the other canvas) and use the pice of cardboard where the heart came from as a stencil to make the heart, using a palette knife ad the Texture Crackle. Let dry and add antiquing cream in patina green and rubb it in the cracks. Remove access using a baby wipe and use a layer of Triple thick gloss glaze to protect the antiquing cream. Next stamp the circles using Gesso (my circles are a stamp by Joy Designs, but a cap from a bottle will work too.
Use the Dymo to make the text and add that to cardstock, cut to size and adde some red from Tim Holz disstress ink to the cardstock, next add tripple thick gloss glaze and when dry place it on the canvas.
The Cherish canvas, paint the heart Primary Magenta, and when dry stamp on the heart and varnish.
The canvas has a base coat of Mooon Yellow next glue on the tissue paper( I used some argyle stamp and the word LOVE and some random letter stamps to create the background) use matte medium like on the other canvas. When dry paint the tissue paper on the canvas in Cadmium Ornage Hue media fluid and in Traditions Red Violet. Use a bit black to age.
Stencil the honeycomb stencil with red paint and the Andy Skinner stencil in red.
Add the crackle glaze to the heart and use white antiquing cream to make the cracks stand out. Draw the arrow using a white gel pen and use Triple thick gloss glaze as a varnish. Glue the piece of the dictionary on the canvas with matte medium(first use distress ink to colour it matching to the canvas). When the canvas is dry glue the haert on. Stamp the word cherish on a piece of cardstock, use distress to colour it and triple thick gloss glaze . Glue it on the heart and the canvas is done.

christmas canvas
I made a small Christmas canvas, just for fun, I painted a funky Christmas tree and some snowflakes.
It turned out much cuter than I thought , I kinda like it.
Decoart product used: Americana acrylics in Red Alert, Snow White, Blue Grass Green. Matte Varnish, Gesso. Craft Twinkles inCrystal and Christmas red. Glamour dust glitter in Ice Crystal. Paper efftects in Black Pearl. Traditions acrylic in Phtalo Blue and Red Violet. Decou Page Crystal Glitter
First I gessoed the canvas, let it dry and added some water to the Traditions paint in Blue and Violet. I used the paint water mix to make the background, The water makes it easier for the colours to mix a bit and makes the colours a bit lighter.
Next I used a glass paint marker in white to draw the x mas tree and coloured it white so I would have a white background to paint the tree on. I also used the marker to draw the snowy hills the tree stands on.
Than I used the green to paint the tree and red and white for the tree trunk. The snowflakes a dots made with a small paint brush and white paint. I mixed white with water to make the hills look more snow like (I wanted some of the blue and violet to shine through there). The snow also got a bit of Glamour Dust glitter paint in Ice Crystal.
I usde mattr varnish over the entire canvas at this point, because it would protect the painting so far just incase I needed to use a babt whipe in case I would mess up the decorating part of the tree :-)
I decorated the tree with red paint and added Craft Twinkles in Christmas red to give it a more xmassy look.
Next I added Craft Twinkles in christal all around the tree using a paint brush.
To make the tree stand out more I used paper effects in black pearl to outline the tree. Let it dry
The words Peace and Joy are stamped using black archival in on paper, I used red distress ink to match the paper with the canvas.
The words were cut out and glued onto the canvas using Decou Page Crystal glitter. To finishe I gave the canvas another layer of Decou Page Crystal glitter

steampunk canvas galaxy style
another canvas, this time I use an image that is meant to be a Creepmas digi, I don't care, I liked it :-P
The Evil Snowman is called Iceplug Pottersnatch and he can be found on Etsy here, I couldn;t find him in zibbet ,maybe he melted there.
I coloured the dig using prismacolor pencils, and cut it out
Gesso the canvas and paint it black, next take a sponge and go dabb the other paints to create a galaxy look, end the painting part with splattering white paint using an old tooth brush.
When dry add a little bit of glitter paint, just to get a little sparkle here and there.
Stamp the gears using white Stazon, I think it looks a bit like snowflakes :-)
glue the digi on the canas.

a halloween canvas steampunk style
I made a canvas using Eeny Meeny a Rick St. Dennis digital stamp, you can find him here
I coloured the image using prismacolor pencils, I only coloured the pierrot and left the stars and circle uncoloured because I was gonna cut it out and did not need the stars and circle.
Next Gesso the canvas, when dry add the neon orange. Next use the stencil and the green to greate the harlequin pattern (thought it fit a pierrot lol). Stamp the gears to create a frame and use black paint for the edges. Die cut the gears using black cardstock and add metallic lusttre for some shine.
Cut out the image and glue to the canvas, easy peasy
Maybe not very scary Halloween to some of you, but clowns/pierrots freak me out so I think it will do :-)
Next guy is Famine, I guess he could use some food he has been to serious with his diet ,,,
he can be found on Etsy here
To make the canvas I used Deco Art products
Americana Multi Surface Neon acrylic paint in the colours orange and green
Americana Acrylic lamp black
Metallic Lustre in colour fab fuchsia
Americana decor stencil distressed Harlequin
the gears a a Joy Craft die also use rubber gear stamps and black Archival ink
Next Gesso the canvas, when dry add the neon orange. Next use the stencil and the green to greate the harlequin pattern (thought it fit a pierrot lol). Stamp the gears to create a frame and use black paint for the edges. Die cut the gears using black cardstock and add metallic lusttre for some shine.

Mermaid canvas
Hi all, I am back again.
I started this canvas early May, but some tings got in the way so I could only finish it just before I let for the USA. I had planned to do a tutorial about this and I did make pics along the way.......but .....somehow I lost a part of the pics.
so I will try to talk you throught the part where pics are missing, sorry
Deco Art products used: Elegant Finish Metallic Glaze (in Medieval Gold and Old World Patina)
Weatehered Wood Crackle Medium, Texture Fierro in Green Gold, Decoupage Matte, Americana Acrylic paints in colours: Driftwood , Antique Mauve and Colonial Green. Metallic Lustres in colours: Gold Rush and Iced Espresso. I also used Acrylic Gesso to prepare the canvas for painting. And a Matte Varnish.
The digital image used is Aquarella, by Rick St.dennis. for embellishments I used shells, drift wood some pearl beads and a net. You will also need paper towels.
First Gesso the canvas, while drying start colouring the image, I usually use the drying time in between paint layers to do some colouring.
When gesso has dried paint the canvas gold using the Elegant Finish Metallic Glaze, you may need multiple layers .Let dry in between. When dry apply a layer of Weathered Wood Crackle medium, let dry.
take the 3 colours Americana acrylics and put some paint on a craftsheet. Take some papertowel and make a puff.
Now it's gonna get messy lol, dabb the papertowel puff in the paint, while doing this turn the puff a bit so paint will be a bit mixed, but careful not to make mudd. Then immediately dabb to the canvas and keep turning the puff while dabbing. You might want to practise this on a scrap piece of paper. You want to create a marble like look. Change papertowel puffs if the paint will get to much to be one colour. See pic below, that is the result you want. Work fast because if you over do the paint the weathered wood won't work.

Let dry and let the crackle start, when the canvas has dried you have a marble look finish, with cracks, throught the cracks you will see some gold. Protect it with a layer of matte varnish
From here the pics are missing, but next step is easy. Paint you embellishments to match the canvas, using the Elegant Finish Metallic Glazes and the paint. Let dry .
cut the digi out and glue it to the canvas
Take the Texture Fierro and a palette knife to apply it round the edges of the canvas to create a frame, don't forget the edges of the canvas. Let it dry and crack. Add some Metallic Lustres to some of the raised areas.
glue the embellishments in place (try to put the net in between, under and over some of the embellishments), for the loose ends of the net, use Decoupage Matte on the net to make sure it stays where you want it. Let dry.
when theDecoupage Matte and glue is dry turn the canvas around so the backside ist up, Attache the remaining loose ends of the net on the back of the canvas using Decoupage Matte or glue. Let it dry and you are done.
